About us

We are a myopic macular degeneration (MMD) advocacy group.  We aim to engage in a dialogue with researchers, with the goal of helping develop new treatments to halt or restore vision loss.  Approaches to treat the diseases associated with high myopia are urgently needed in order to reduce the threat of visual impairment.

We aim to raise awareness about MMD in the vision research community. MMD is an under-represented, under-researched and under-funded eye condition. Even basic statistics on the disease's prevalence are absent in many countries.

We strongly believe in patient education and peer support. Knowledge about symptoms, and monitoring vision changes can help patients get rapid care for the complications of MMD that are treatable, such as neovascular membranes or retinal detachments.
